If false.i2p doesn't work anymore, eepsites should still work fine. false.i2p is only used for the outproxy (visiting sites on the regular web). _________________ shelob.ador.isn2.i2p --- Because everyone loves a *feck* huge spider. (Currently down)

Hello!
Which I2P version do you run? Please try 0.6.5-10 - if it is acceptable to you.
Do you have some active connections?
Have you set your browser to use the proxy on 127.0.0.1 port 4444?
Can you reach forum.i2p or echelon.i2p?
If not, what error pages do you see?
The errors from i2prufus shows more or less a local problem. Do you have SAM activated in your config? _________________ eche|on

HI!
have a look into the faq: http://www.i2p2.i2p/faq.html#outproxy
"If it doesn't work, the outproxy is not up. It is not I2P's fault. "
You messed a few parts together.
First: eepsites are I2P internal sites, ending with .i2p - if your I2P router works, they usualy works, to.
Second: eepproxy is the local proxy built into your I2P router which handles the requests of your browser into the I2P network - barely found a non working one til yet.
Third: the outproxy false.i2p - it is ONE eepsite, driven by a nice private person, not by the I2P team.
If it is down, it is down. Just the person running that outproxy can change that, not the I2P team.
The I2P encourages everyone to use I2P for internal use only and limit use of usual internet to absolut minimum, as it is "not as secure as I2P". If you only want to use usual internet sites more or anonymous, use TOR.

Hi!
Yes, false.i2p is my outproxy. It was down as I upgraded - read echelon.i2p for that information.
And false.i2p is NOT needed to reach eepsites and other stuff inside of I2P. _________________ eche|on

I can't seem to get any sites that end in just i2p to load.
not;

http://false.i2p/
http://trac.i2p2.i2p/newticket
etc....

my bandwidth is way below what I posted as my limit as well, but I am not sure that is related.
You have configured I2P to share 8000KBps.
Uptime: 3h
1s: 8.49/8.94KBps
5m: 9.94/9.96KBps
Total: 3.15/3.09KBps
Used: 38.73MB/37.94MB
I think I missing something obvious, but I am a noob to all this. Please point me in the right direction.
Thank you. |

Hi!
First: share 8000 kb/sec is 8 MB/sec, does your internet line has that speed?
(remember, 8 MegaByte/sec is 64 MegBit = 64000 kbit/sec)
Second: The browser you try to reach the eepsites with, dis you set that browser to use a proxy? (usual 127.0.0.1 IP and port 4444, if the I2P routers runs on the same PC).
Can you reach the local router console (http://127.0.0.1:7657/index.jsp), but the numbers you shows tells me so.
Look on http://127.0.0.1:7657/i2ptunnel/index.jsp and see if the eeporxy tunnel is setup correct with port 4444 and if it is running?
And afterwards, see if your local firewall is blocking the port 4444 is all above fails...
About bandwith: your router shows reachability OK, which is fine. But your router is up only 3 hours, it takes some more time for it to get known to the net.
How high did you set the percentage shareage?
And on left side of router console page, there is a line "Participating: 12" - which number is written there? That are the participating tunnels - the more, the more traffic I2P uses.
Did you limit the number of partiticipating tunnels in advanced config?
And on left side of router console page under local destinations, does it look like
* shared clients
Details Config
Or does it shows an errors?

Thank you very much for the speedy reply!
No, unfortunately my internet can't handle that speed, I didn't convert:(
Should be 800KBps
Yes I can reach the local router console.
When you say browser do you mean my internet browser? And how exactly do I configure that? I am using firefox 3.0.5
If I enable an HTTP proxy (127.0.0.1) for port 4444 then I can access the I2P sites, but I can't access other websites I am used to visiting, but I believe that is because I am logged in and they need to detect my IP, so how do I get the best of both worlds? By making many exceptions in the "No Proxy for" field?
Yes the eeproxy port seems to be set up correctly and running.
I set the % shareage to 80.
Tunnels in/out
Exploratory: 4/2
Client: 4/5
Participating: 219
Yes it shows shared clients.
Most of it seems to be working correctly now, I think I will just have to fill up the "No Proxy for" field to avoid being logged out or unnecessarily slow speeds for when anonymity isn't important.
Thank you! |

HI!
Fine, you set it up correct
And yes, I2P has only one outproxy to connect to the usual internet, it is quite slow.
There are some different setups to use usual websites and eepsites:
1. change the setting for the proxy everytime you want to browse eepsites - kinda hard work
2. use 2 different browser, e.g. opera for i2p and firefox for usual internet
3. use privoxy to devide the connection - *.i2p goes into i2p addressspace, all other via usual net.
BE careful with solution 3: if a eepsite includes a image from a usual internet address, that internet address gets your IP (and with some additional stuff the eepsite owner could easily obtain your ident from I2P)!

Simple to solve.
When using 3. then configure privoxy to use tor for the normal internet connection. Problem solved! |
